In December of 2007 we lost our beautiful 4 year old granddaughter Sophie to brain cancer. She was a typical innocent child full of wonder, curiosity and love. Her courageous battle, smile, and loving spirit have been an inspiration to all who knew her.
In honor of Sophie and the many kids fighting the unfairness of childhood disease, the Sophie Jane Darr Children’s foundation was formed in 2010 to provide financial assistance to families with a sick child. Whether it’s helping with monthly bills, purchasing an access ramp, a chair lift, or many other worthwhile needs, we are honored to help.
We also support our good friends at the Amigos de Jesus orphanage in Honduras, which is home to over 120 kids that were abandoned, abused, hungry and/or sick.
We have 2 major fundraising events each year. The Neverland Ball is held in February, and our Golf Oouting which is held in September. Through the generosity of our sponsors and friends we have raised enough money to help over 200 local families. When finances are strained and insurance companies can’t help, the social workers at the local children’s hospitals continue to use our charity as a great resource to help families.
Please consider contributing to our foundation by becoming an event sponsor, coming to one of our events or just by making a donation. All contributions can be made through our web site by selecting the event or donation type you wish to support. Many thanks for your generosity and support of Sophie’s mission and memory.
